nationaldetective.ng.com, Monday, 2nd January, 2023By George Oshogwe OgboluOn the 31st of December 2022, George Oshogwe Ogbolu of Naija News reported that , National President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) Alhaji Yerima Shettima has stated that it would be unfair, immoral and unjust for another Northerner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.Naija News reports that despite calls for the next president of Nigeria to come from the South, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, who are both from the northern part of the country, are contesting in next year’s election.Speaking to Saturday Sun, Shettima called on Nigerians not to vote for another Northerner after Buhari’s eight years in office. He said: “It will be very unfair for another Northerner to step in after Buhari. It will be immoral and unjust. For equity and justice, Buhari’s successor should come from the South. It will be unfair for us to support a Northerner to emerge as Buhari’s successor.“The South should produce Buhari’s successor. Although I’m not an advocate of zoning, and I will never support zoning because it is not in Nigeria’s constitution but for fairness, and justice, and for the sake of Nigeria’s unity, the Presidency should come to the South in 2023.”The Arewa Youth leader, however, stated that if Nigerians decide another Northerner is best for them, then so be it.“But like I said earlier for fairness, and justice, it should be the turn of the South in 2023. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must give everybody a sense of belonging,” he added.
