NSCDC TO PATROL EBONYI SCHOOLS

The Commissioner for Education Dr Sunday Zijl Nwangele has reiterated Ebonyi State government readiness to partner the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in the State to patrol Schools for the safety of School Children.
The commissioner made the assertion when NSCDC commandant and officers visited him in his Office Centenary City Abakaliki.
Dr Sunday Zijl Nwangele assured the NSCDC Commandant that their request for assistant to carry out safe School initiative training as it concern students is acceptable by the Ministry of education.
Dr Nwangele called on Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to catch any identified loitering Students and Teachers between 8am and 2pm, stating that loitering of Students and Pupils as well as Teachers during School hour had been banned.
He said all categories of Schools in Ebonyi including Public, private and faith based have been unified to one School Calendar year, for Schools reopening, closing, midterm break and other extra curriculum activities at the same period.

The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Engr Felix Gbolade earlier briefed the Ministry of Education management about the Command intention to carry out Safe School Initiative Programme in the State.
He said arrangement had been concluded to gather Students and teachers for training under safe School initiative programme, which is on security consciousness in their Schools, a programme he stated that Ebonyi is the first to hold after Abuja and request the presence of State government during the programme.

Meanwhile, the permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Elder Sunday Okike thanked the Commandant for his show of concern to the security of Ebonyi School Children.
