A 51 years old man, Oluranti Badejo has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for alleged beating of his 40 years old wife, Folasade Badejo to death.
NPress Abeokuta Correspondent, Gift Oba reports that the suspect was apprehended by the police following a report lodged at Mowe Divisional Headquarters by the deceased younger sister, who reported to have been informed about the incident by her elder sister’s daughter.
In response to the report, the DPO Mowe Division, SP Folake Afeniforo, dispatched a team of detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested.
The corpse of the victim who lives with her husband was found in their home at NO 7, Madam Felicia street, Orimerunmu, Mowe and evacuated to the mortuary in Shagamu for post mortem examination.
According to the Command’s Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement on Thursday, said on investigation, it was revealed that the suspect strangled the deceased during a scuffle as a result of minor disagreement.
Having realized that he has killed his wife, the suspect used hot iron to burn parts of the body of the deceased, to look as if she was electrocuted. But unfortunately for him, their 8 years old daughter was there and witnessed the whole thing. It was the daughter who testified seeing her father strangulating her deceased mother to death.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be taken to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
