It was a scaring scenario in Bwari Area Council as residents were thrown into confusion when terrorists and soldiers of the Guards Brigade, engaged themselves in a gun battle, in broad day light.
This attack is coming within 24 hours terrorists threat that they will come after the President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna State Governor Nasir el’Rufai and bring them to where the train captives where in a viral video.
The terrorists, according to an eye witness, who said that they heard gun shots from persons attacking soldiers on patrol. “It was serious and we took to our heels”.
National Detective Magazine further inquiry revealed that the troops of the Guards Brigade, known as presidential guards, were ambushed by the armed bandits in Bwari Abuja, on this faithful Monday.
Our reporter learnt that, three soldiers were reportedly wounded during the attack, which kept tongues wagging and threw residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) into panic.
It was gathered that the bandits/terrorists were headed to the Nigerian Law School in Bwari when they ran into the troops and met their Waterloo, as the galant soldiers displayed their superiority.
There was an Intelligence report prior to the attack, according to military sources, terrorists have laid siege in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with the intention to attack the Law School in Bwari and other government facilities, which led to the closure of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Bwari Area Council on Monday the 25th of July.
Military sources and civilian eyewitnesses said that three soldiers were injured during the attack and were despatched to the hospital for medical attention.
A miltary personell who preferred anonymity, told NDM that the attack was a confirmation of the terrorists’ planned siege to the city but authorities said they were on the trail of the assailants.
“The terror attack that happened shows that the terrorists were actually within Bwari and were ready to carry out their plans of attacking the Law School as earlier reported,” the source stated.
Confirming the incident , the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Guards Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, affirmed that soldiers were attacked by suspected terrorists but were successfully repelled.
Captain Godfrey, added that the wounded soldiers were taken to a medical facility and are receiving treatment.
“They were attacked and the attack was successfully repelled. We had a few wounded in action who have been taken to the hospital and are receiving treatments.
“At the moment our troops are still combing the general area to get rid of the criminals that have been threatening the general area. It is advised that residents go about their lawful businesses and keep cooperating with us by giving us timely information to enable us win the fight against the criminals”. Captain Abakpa.
Meanwhile, residents of Bwari and staffs of federal agencies, schools and churches are panicking over the daring attitude of the terrorists who feel they can outwit the bravery of soldiers.
FCT called on security Agencies to comb all the Forests of Abuja to bring the perpetrators of this evil terror to book.
Gwan Amon Offiong, a resident of Abuja, in his reaction told National Detective Magazine that “ it’s fearful that they are in Abuja , these terrorists said it in their viral video and its playing out, Abuja is no longer safe.”
Fuming, he said, “ for the terrorists to mention the president, our Commander in Chief, is enough to send troops to circle the forest and fish them out within 24 hours.”
If this can’t happen, why do we claim to be giant of Africa and bandits are daring the Presidents capital abode, this can’t even happen in states close to Washington, how much more In Washington, I close my case” said Offiong.
